Taking My Soul For A Spin

All Souls Day

All Hallows Eve
precedes All Saints Day, or November 1st. Take your pick, they are both correct.

According to History.com;

The Celtic holiday of Samhain, the Catholic Hallowmas period of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day and the Roman festival of Feralia all influenced the modern holiday of Halloween.

Get Out And Vote

The giant
corporate industrial mega rich gazillionaires think they can buy your vote. Now that they have passed legislation that lets them hide while funding candidates with obscene amounts of money, they are drowning their Tea party and Republican candidates in campaign cash.

If you vote
for any of those people spending hundreds of millions of dollars to get elected to a post that pays less than a hundred thousand dollars a year, then you will show them that they really can buy your vote.

What I like about all this money being spent is that it means our votes are actually counted. I wasn't sure if they were really counting the votes after I saw Reagan, Bush, and Bush get elected. I couldn't imagine that enough voters would be hoodwinked into making such poor choices, so I just figured 'they' weren't actually counting our votes. But with the money that business is spending to have their way, I guess someone will be tallying the results.

We shall see.

The Band Plays On Saturday

I hope to get
some good recordings so I can make a "live" CD of us playing there. We like the acoustics of that room. The band sounds high fidelity.

Spindles And Sleep

Research has shown
that when people sleep, the thalamus—a brain structure that connects the high-level thought areas with the sights and sounds of the outside world—produces brief, high-frequency brain waves called spindles.

In a new study
by Jeffrey Ellenbogen, chief of the division of sleep medicine at Harvard University’s Massachusetts General Hospital, they discovered that the more spindles one has, the more likely they are able to stay asleep when they are confronted with sounds.

Because spindle production dwindles with age, the findings could explain why older people frequently complain of poor sleep. Article, HERE.

What A Day!

Shasta

Lassen

Just a few minutes ago, I drove up to the dam to see how Shasta looks after the last rain storm. It was beautiful.

On the dam road
, one can also see Lassen. I stopped next to another photographer who was also enjoying the view.

Life is a wonderful gift.
